Moonstone

It’s Cancer season!

That means lots of moon-themed goodies that I can’t live without. Everytime our moon is glowing bright in the sky, I find myself stopping in my tracks to stare up at it with awe and admiration. My love of the moon most likely comes from the fact that my zodiac sign is Cancer, but I also feel a sense of perspective when I see it — knowing we are tiny specs in a vast solar system. Whatever it is, the moon just makes me so HAPPY!

A few Moonstone facts:

Mineral Classification: Feldspar | Mohs Hardness Scale: 6 to 6.5

Moonstone, a kind of feldspar, is a translucent white stone with a bluish opalescent luster. The stone is known as the visionary's stone and believed to strengthen intuition, psychic perception, creativity and compassion. Legend has it, Moonstone is made of solidified moonbeams and, during a full moon, you can see the future if you held a moonstone in your mouth. 🤭 Did you know: Once called "adularia," named after Mt. Adular (now St. Gotthard) in Switzerland, one of the first sources of moonstone.

Happy Birthday, Cancers!

Stand steady on your feet with the visionary’s stone. Remain confident and sensibly tenacious on your journey to good fortune.

I’m Jen, I run a design studio and I have a goods line called Curio House where I make curious gifts for curious people. Have you ever wondered why kids love a simple cardboard box rather than the gift inside it? It’s because it allows them to transport themselves into a world of imagination, play and possibilities; it engages their curiosity. I think, as adults, we need to engage our curiosity every day. What makes you curious? What sparks your giftees' imaginations? The answers are important and are at the heart of great gift-giving.
