What does "Curio" mean?
Curio is short for curiosity. I also loved the idea of a curio cabinet when I was brainstorming a name for the business. A curio cabinet is essentially a cabinet that holds all your favorite things, trinkets, knickknacks, etc. But I didn’t want it to sound like my business was a furniture store.
The star in our logo represents a spark – a spark of creativity, a moment, and/or an idea.
What is a "Volvelle"?
Simple answer:
A volvelle is a spinning wheel chart or a spinner.
Long answer:
Volvelles are those old school wheel charts that advertisers used to use in the 30’s. It consists of a top and bottom layer that spin separately from each other. The top layer has window cutouts, so as you spin the layers, new pieces of information are revealed. It’s an interactive way to reveal different text or images — and also, they are awesome.
I've started to collect a few antique ones. Some go for $30, while some rare ones go for HUNDREDS! Here is a cool cocktail one that I love SO MUCH! It's literally $750!
How long does it take to create a product?
Our current production time is about two weeks. This timeframe includes having an item printed and assembled. It does not include shipping time. We have three shipping options for you to choose from during checkout.
Some items are created at my home studio, while some products are printed at my local print shop. Look for the “made to order” or “pre-order” labels to indicate items that may take longer to get in the mail.
When can I expect my order?
- In Stock — everything listed in the store that does not have a special listing title is in-stock. These items are available and ready to be shipped out within 1-3 business days.
- Made to Order — Any items that include customization are made to order and ready to be shipped out within 4-7 business days.
- Pre-Order — the items marked pre order in the shop are in production, meaning…they are being printed and need to be assembled. They will be ready to ship within 2-3 weeks.
What kind of shipping do you offer?
I ship through USPS. You can find our shipping options below. Please note that production time estimates are included* in the shipping options below.
- Standard — First Class Mail, typically arrives within 7-10 business days
- Expedited — Priority Mail, typically arrives within 5-7 business days
- Rush — Priority Mail Express, typically arrives within 3-5 business days
Please know that we are a small business and these times are estimated. If there is any delay, you will be notified ASAP.
*Pre-order items may take longer; shipping information can be find in the shop listing.
Can I select my shipping date?
Yes! When you checkout, there is a form that should appear where you can select your delivery date. We only recommend this for anyone who needs their gift more than 3 weeks from the time they place the order on our website.
Why 3 weeks?
Because anything less than that would just follow the shipping options available during checkout — Standard, Expedited and Rush. For estimated delivery times on these options, see the "What kind of shipping do you offer" FAQ on this page
Why would someone need this option?
Let's say you found the perfect gift for someone on our site (yay!), but their birthday isn't until 2 months from now. You may want to delay the shipment by a month and a half so that it arrives closer to their birthday. Or maybe because you don't want to shove it in a drawer for a month and a half and then forget about it. If you are super organized and don't misplace things, you might not need this option.
Shipping is so expensive, why?
I aim to make my shipping prices cover my costs only. As a consumer, I always thought shipping prices were so expensive. As a business owner, I am beginning to understand why...it's what the mail services charge. And during the holidays, they increase it! Which sucks. Do you ship internationally?
Unfortunately, we do not offer international shipping at this time.
Do you accept returns?
I gladly accept returns, exchanges, and cancellations.
- Contact me within: 14 days of delivery
- Ship items back within: 30 days of delivery
- Request a cancellation within: 4 hours of purchase
The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
- Custom or personalized orders
- Digital downloads
Conditions of return
Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.
Do you create everything by hand?
The short answer is yes. All assembly is done by hand, either by myself, or with my local print shop due to equipment needs. This is why some production times are longer or shorter, depending on the time we need to get you the best quality product.
All of our items are carefully made and treated with lots of love. We want you to have the very best quality and hold ourselves to a certain standard. We appreciate your patience and understanding with our small business.

What items can be personalized?
The following items can be personalized:
- All photo gift boxes can be personalized with the recipient’s name on the front of the box
- Sticker sheets can be personalized in the header, upon request
- Paper medals
- We are have more coming soon!
The following items cannot be personalized, however, the packaging can be:
- Volvelles
- Hidden Message Cards
What pen should I use on Hidden Message Cards?
If the center of your hidden message card is white, you can use any writing pen. Please note that some pens, such as gel pens, may smudge, but not as a result of the paper type. I like to use ballpoint pens or quick drying pens. I do not recommend crayons or markers, as the space to write is on the smaller side.
If your hidden message card is metallic paper, such as our Christmas cards, IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED YOU USE AN EXTRA FINE POINT SHARPIE. Other pens will smudge, including ballpoint pens. This is due to the specialty paper.
We offer Extra Fine Point Sharpies in our store. We only offer black ink at this time.
